Cochin International Airport Limited
Cochin International Airport (IATA: COK, ICAO: VOCI) is an international airport situated in the city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. Located at Nedumbassery, about 30 km (19 mi) northeast of Kochi, it is the busiest and largest airport in the state of Kerala. For the financial year 2013-14, it is the fourth busiest airport in India in international passenger traffic ferrying 3,272,350 passengers and seventh busiest in overall passenger traffic carrying 5,383,114 passengers. The airport is a primary base for Air India Express operations and is a focus city for Air Asia India, Air India, Indigo, Jet Airways and SpiceJet.
Cochin International Airport is the first in India developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Cochin International Airport is the first airport in the world to be powered entirely by solar energy. Huge power bills prompted the airport to build the 12 megawatt solar plant which has more than 46,000 solar panels.
